Faultless! There you go. An amazing dining experience. Food and atmosphere was one I would highly recommend. Will definitely be a return visit.

Superb food, great service

Lovely quaint restaurant with kind staff and delicious food. We chose the 3 course option. Both the Lamb and Beef feather blade were delicious. I highly recommend the potatoes au gratin as the side. For dessert I wish we would have ordered 2 of the toffee banana creme! We were scraping the plate for every last bit! Make a reservation! They were packed at every table and had to turn people away! We traveled to York during COVID-29 restrictions so this may differ during normal times.

This is a fabulous restaurant with very friendly and attentive staff. The food is first class and beautifully cooked. Also a good selection of wine. We enjoyed it so much we went twice!! Highly recommend.

Quirky intimate little place but the food,flavours out of this world. A real find!! please don't book then be a "no show" you are missing out!!!

Sunday lunch was great, beef was cooked pink and very tasty, nice onion and red wine gravy and a lovely selection of fresh heratige and root vegetables. Would reccomend

Best veggie Sunday lunch ever from the brilliant team at Cafe No 8! Collected ready to serve and had a lovely afternoon enjoying the food in the garden. Especially loved the vegetable selection and the rhubarb and custard pavlovas were so amazing we have ordered them again for Friday evening....thank you again. Fantastic new take away service from one of York’s favourite bistros.

Very good quality food, freshly cooked to a high standard. Good value too - especially the 'early bird' menu. A great choice if you are going to a performance at York Theatre Royal as they are open from 5.30 pm, and only two minutes walk from the theatre.

We had a wonderful lunch today! I’ve often walked past this restaurant and have been tempted for years! So we decided to give it a try! We didn’t need to book and was able to get a table straight away. The staff were friendly and attentive. We chose a main and dessert each and weren’t disappointed. The food was fresh and steaming, and full of flavour! It was beautifully presented and was so delicious! You can’t fault anything! We will definitely be back again to sample the rest of the menu!!

A lovely friendly little restaurant, good food, good service. Quite full for a Friday lunch. Will be going back!

Lovely food and pleasant staff

A lovely meal .......spoilt by the smell We had a lovely meal in this intimate friendly Bistro, but it was quiet and by 9pm we were the only diners, not that that worried us. The food was fabulous and the service attentive. Unfortunately whilst I was still enjoying a glass of Port, they started cleaning the kitchen and a strong smell of cleaning fluid and bleach filled the restaurant spoiling what had otherwise been an enjoyable evening. I did mention it as we paid, pointing out that we drank up quickly as a result, and got a rather half hearted apology. So we won’t be back and neither could we recommend.

Friendly place nice food and quality wine. Get there early for early bird menu.

Very good service. Mushroom and duck egg on brioche main course excellent. Scones and compote very good too.

Great food- went on NYE. Interesting menu and excellently prepared. Service pretty dire. Took 1hr 40mins to get the main course. Couldn't have desert as next booking was arriving despite bolting the main down in 10mins. Contacted Cafe No.8 to provide feedback and they never responded.

Dropped in for breakfast after reading some good reviews and we weren't disappointed. Friendly service and excellent food at a reasonable price. Making something like a full English breakfast interesting and special is not easy but they pulled it off. Excellent.

Went here Saturday evening. Food was amazing and great value, we got the two courses for £25. I recommend the Yorkshire Lamb Rump or the Duck. Staff were very helpful and friendly. Would eat here again.
